Innovative Intermodal was started by Ray Mahacek Jr in 2015, in Chicago Illinois. Ray’s parents, Jeanette and Ray Mahacek Sr started Freight Express in the early 1950s, and quickly became one of the leading Intermodal carriers in St. Louis MO. The technology and equipment have changed since those early days, but one thing has not changed, our passion for delivering a premium intermodal experience.
With three terminals located in Chicago, St. Louis, and Indianapolis, we provide service to Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
At Innovative, our leadership and office team members have one of the most diverse backgrounds in logistics. Combined we have hundreds of years of management experience, ranging from Class 1 railroads, Steamship Lines, Brokerage, Asset based 3PLs, large Container Drayage Carriers and more.
We have a large team of veteran, battle tested Intermodal drivers. They know how to adapt to the challenges of intermodal and dealing with the bad equipment associated with container drayage. We have your solution for bad equipment. We own and maintain our own fleet of over 100 modern chassis. Many of them are specialized chassis, that can handle 20 and 40 foot bulktainers and overweight loads.
